Niese gets chance to face hometown team

CLEVELAND -- Growing up roughly two hours outside of Cleveland, Jon Niese was an Indians fan.

Now, he'll be doing his best to get them out.

Niese, coming off the best start of his career -- and one of the best starts in Mets history -- will start against his hometown team Wednesday with scores of family and friends in attendance.

Since returning from the disabled list with a mild strain of his right hamstring, Niese has allowed just one run, seven hits and one walk over 16 innings.

"Hopefully I don't give up any runs the rest of the year," Niese said. "But that's probably not going to happen. I just go out there and try to put up zeros every time."
