NEW YORK -- Following the Mets' 3-0 victory over the Braves on Sunday afternoon, the club optioned outfielder Jesus Feliciano to Triple-A Buffalo, likely paving the way for Carlos Beltran's return after the All-Star break.
Before leaving the clubhouse, Feliciano wished fellow teammates well as his belongings sat in a packed bag in front of his locker.
"He did a great job for us," second baseman Alex Cora said. "He got his shot and he had a great month. We are proud and he's somebody we counted. Who knows he might be here in September, but we know he is a guy that can contribute."
Feliciano appeared in 20 games for the Mets during his stint in the Majors, batting .278 with two RBIs in 55 plate appearances.
