Saturday, March 17 Mets at the plate: Lastings Milledge led off the game with a single, but he was thrown out at second trying to stretch it into a double. Four innings later, Milledge cracked a two-bagger of his own. Anderson Hernandez was the only other player to hit safely off Orioles starter Erik Bedard, and he advanced to third base before the inning ended. Orioles at the plate: Four players -- Nick Markakis, Miguel Tejada, Aubrey Huff and Jay Gibbons -- singled in runs in the first inning on Saturday. Three of those four players eventually came around to score. Markakis added a run-scoring single later in the game, and Gibbons homered to pad the margin.
The Mets will play a road game against the Cardinals on Sunday in Jupiter, Fla., at 1:05 p.m. ET. The matchup will feature New York's Orlando Hernandez against St. Louis' Kip Wells.
