Mets recall RHP Paul Sewald

The New York Mets today announced that they have recalled RHP Paul Sewald from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League to replace RHP Noah Syndergaard, who was placed on the 10-Day Disabled List earlier today. Sewald will wear #51 and will be available for tonight's game at Atlanta.

Sewald, 26, was with the Mets from April 8-13 earlier this year. He made his major league debut on April 8 vs. Miami. Sewald has tossed 1.1 innings with New York, allowing four hits and two runs in two games.

He was 1-0 with four saves and a 2.08 ERA (two earned runs/8.2 innings) with two walks and 12 strikeouts in eight games for Las Vegas this year.

Sewald was tied for second in saves (19) in the PCL last year and had the fifth-highest strikeout per 9.0 innings ratio (10.96) of any reliever in the PCL.
