METS 1, DODGERS 0
at Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Saturday, March 1

Mets at the plate Brady Clark, who entered the game for Ryan Church after Church collided with Marlon Anderson in right field, was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, scoring Michael Abreu, who came in for Anderson. Jose Reyes fouled a pitch off his left knee in his first at-bat and chose to remain in the game after a few minutes of attention from the trainer. Reyes walked in his second plate appearance and showed no effects advancing to second base on a wild pitch.

Dodgers at the plate: Russell Martin singled and drew a pair of walks, and Andruw Jones added a single, but that was all the offense on the day for the Dodgers.

Mets on the mound: Left-handed rookie Jonathan Niese pitched two scoreless innings in his exhibition game debut, throwing 31 pitches, 17 for strikes. He walked one, struck out three and allowed no hits. Jorge Sosa followed Niese with a scoreless third, and Pedro Feliciano pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the fourth.

Dodgers on the mound: Brad Penny's spring debut lasted two shutout innings, too. He allowed a walk and a single in the second frame, when he produced his two strikeouts and put his pitch total at 25.

Up next: The Mets and Dodgers complete their weekend home-and-home series on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. ET at Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Fla. It will be the Mets' final visit to the the campus that has been the Dodgers' home since 1948. Oliver Perez is slated to start for the Mets, followed by Scott Schoeneweis and Joe Smith. The Dodgers' pitching sequence begins with Derek Lowe. Eric Stults and Mike Myers are to follow.
