With heavy rain and winds expected to continue into the early morning, the postponement was announced almost three hours prior to game time.
Matt Harvey, who was initially scheduled to start Tuesday night but was replaced by Jeremy Hefner as a result of the weather, will now make his final start of the season on Wednesday. Hefner will pitch the makeup game on Thursday night.
"We made the switch [on Tuesday] because we were concerned if we played that if the rains came and [Harvey] only pitched two innings, I didn't want him to pitch two innings and then have to shut him down," manager Terry Collins said.
Phillies starter Tyler Cloyd will now pitch on Thursday. Cole Hamels, who was expected to pitch on Wednesday, will still make the start opposite Harvey.
Philadelphia took the series opener on Monday night, 3-1. Thursday would have been a day off for both teams, as each team opens a three-game series at home on Friday.
