FLUSHING, N.Y., December 13, 2012 – The New York Mets and ESPN Deportes Nueva York 1050 AM today announced that the station will broadcast Mets games in Spanish for the 2013 season.  Under the agreement, 1050 AM will broadcast 150 regular season games, including select spring training, and postseason. Coverage will also include pre/post-game shows for each game.

“We are thrilled to launch our new partnership with ESPN Deportes, which has become a destination station for Hispanic sports fans in New York,” said Dave Howard, Executive Vice President, Business Operations, New York Mets.  “Through ESPN Deportes, we look forward to building our connection with Spanish-speaking fans.”

“Our commitment to serving the Hispanic sports fan is a top priority for our company,” said David Roberts, vice president and general manager of ESPN Radio New York 98.7 and ESPN Deportes Radio Nueva York 1050 AM. “We are delighted to join forces with the Mets organization for this comprehensive and wide reaching opportunity.”

In September, ESPN’s 1050 AM switched to ESPN Deportes Radio, becoming the first and only Spanish-language radio station in New York dedicated to providing sports content around-the-clock. The Mets agreements adds to the unmatched lineup of top sporting events that include NY Jets games, Dominican baseball, CONMEBOL South American World Cup Qualifiers, CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers, Mexican First Division soccer, U.S. National Team friendlies, MLB and MLS. The station also offers two local sports shows serving the NY market- Firma ESPN & Zona ESPN NY-, in addition to the radio network’s national programming such as Raza Deportiva and Jorge Ramos y Su Banda.
