Mets recall RHP Collin McHugh


FLUSHING, N.Y., May 14, 2013 - The New York Mets today announced the club recalled righthanded pitcher Collin McHugh from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and placed righthanded pitcher Scott Atchison on the 15-Day Disabled List, with inflammation in the right elbow. McHugh will wear #36 and will be available for tonight's game.

McHugh, 25, opened the season in the 51s rotation, going 3-2 with a 2.74 ERA (15 earned runs/49.1 innings) in eight starts. Over his last two starts, he allowed one run earned in 14.0 innings (0.64 ERA). He made his major league debut with the Mets last season, compiling an 0-4 record and a 7.59 ERA (18 earned runs/21.1 innings) in eight games, four starts.

Atchison appeared in 19 games out of the bullpen for the Mets this season and did not receive a decision. He compiled a 4.50 ERA (nine earned runs/18.0 innings) with six strikeouts and six walks.
