Mets Select RHP Andrew Church with 48th Overall Pick in 2013 Draft

FLUSHING, N.Y., June 6, 2013 - The New York Mets today announced the selection of righthanded pitcher Andrew Church from Basic High School (NV) with the 48th pick of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft.

Church, 18, who throws and bats righthanded, committed to the University of San Diego. The 6-3, 200-pound native of Las Vegas, NV was a 2013 Preseason Rawlings 2nd Team All-American.

The Mets selected first baseman Dominic Smith from Serra High School (CA) with the 11th pick earlier tonight.
