Beltran goes 1-for-3 in rehab

DENVER -- Carlos Beltran made his first rehab start for the Class A Brooklyn Cyclones on Wednesday, filling the DH role in a 4-2 loss to the Hudson Valley Renegades. It was Beltran's first game action since June 21, after which he went on the disabled list with a bone bruise in his right knee.

Beltran singled on a line drive to center in his first at-bat, plating Jordanny Valdespin. He was retired at second on the front end of a double-play grounder from Luis Rivera.

Beltran walked in the fourth inning and was picked off first by the catcher after Rivera struck out.

He lined out to right in the sixth inning, and struck out swinging in the eighth.
