NEW YORK -- Mets manager Terry Collins successfully challenged a safe call in the ninth inning of the Marlins' 7-6, 10-inning victory on Saturday night.

First-base umpire Mike Mulchinski originally ruled that Christian Yelich was safe as Lucas Duda threw to second baseman Daniel Murphy covering first on the bunt attempt. Donovan Solano had walked to lead off the inning, temporarily putting runners at first and second for the Marlins in a tie game.

Collins raced out of the dugout after the close play.

"Our guy who does all the replay stuff said he thought he was out at first base," said Collins. "But I was going to challenge it anyway.

"You pretty much have to at that point."

The replays showed Yelich's foot had not come down on the bag before the ball disappeared into Murphy's glove. Daisuke Matsuzaka worked out of trouble in the inning by getting a called third strike on Casey McGehee with the bases loaded.

"It was close," Yelich said. "I wasn't really playing that much attention. Real time, just running down the line, I thought it was really close."
