In seven seasons in the Minors since being the fifth overall pick by the Montreal Expos -- now the Nats -- in the 2002 First-Year Player Draft, the 25-year-old is 23-32 with a 4.29 ERA in 164 games (49 starts).
Dessens, 38, posted a 3.31 ERA in 28 games for the Mets this past season, including a 1.89 ERA at Citi Field. For his 13-year career, he's 48-62 with a 4.53 ERA.
