NEW YORK -- David Wright's RBI streak ended Wednesday night, but his hitting streak certainly didn't.

The Mets' third baseman and captain finished 1-for-4 in an 8-5 loss to the A's, extending his hit streak to nine games. Wright is batting .400 (14-for-35) with seven extra-base hits in that time. Without an RBI, however, that run ended at a career-high seven games.

"The great ones, they get out of it," manager Terry Collins said Wednesday afternoon of Wright's slump. "They figure out a way, and he's figured out a way."

This hot stretch comes after a slump during which Wright's average plummeted 40 points into the .260s, but it comes at a good time. According to the latest ballot update released earlier this week, Wright trails Milwaukee third baseman Aramis Ramirez in All-Star fan voting by fewer than 20,000 votes.

Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com -- online or on a mobile device -- using the 2014 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot Sponsored by Experian until Thursday, July 3, at 11:59 p.m. ET. The 2014 All-Star Game will be played at Target Field on Tuesday, July 15 on FOX.
