Noah Syndergaard, the Mets' top prospect, threw 6 1/3 dominant innings in Triple-A Las Vegas' 4-0 win over Tacoma in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Syndergaard, ranked No. 10 on MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects list, struck out five batters and pitched around four hits, all singles, and three walks.

Because Minor League doubleheaders are made up of seven-inning games, Syndergaard had chance to complete his first career shutout. But a one-out walk in the seventh prompted manager Wally Backman to summon Gonzalez Germen from the bullpen. Syndergaard threw 109 pitches, his highest total of the season.

Center fielder Matt den Dekker, the Mets' No. 20 prospect, led the 51s offense by going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs.

Syndergaard improved to 8-5 with a 5.34 ERA. He has struck out 92 batters and walked 29 in 91 innings this season. Despite two short stints on the disabled list, he ranks 11th in the Pacific Coast League in strikeouts.
