Painless, Maine expects to make next start
NEW YORK -- John Maine expects to make his next scheduled start, Wednesday afternoon against the Dodgers. He said Saturday morning that the spasms in his left elbow had ceased and no pain lingered. He had been removed from his start Friday night because of spasms that developed late in the third inning.
"I feel awful [about his inability to complete the fourth inning] and very frustrated," said Maine. "It's kinda hard to wrap my mind around this."
He said he doesn't know how to prevent the symptoms, because he has no idea how they developed. He experienced the same problem in July 2008, and he made his next scheduled start.
