Promoted to hitting coach on November 15, 2017...Previously served as the club's assistant hitting coach from December 4, 2014 through the 2017 season...The Mets had a franchise-record 224 home runs in 2017...Broke the mark set in 2016 (218 homers)...From September, 2004-2014, he was the Director of Player Development for the New York Yankees…From September, 2004- 2013, was the Field Coordinator, and in 2005, 2012 and 2013 he was also the team's hitting coordinator.,.In 2006, served as the manager of Charleston (A) of the South Atlantic League from July 12 through the end of the season...From 2002-2004, he was the minor league hitting coordinator for the Houston Astros...In 2000 and 2001, was the major league hitting coach for the Montreal Expos...In addition, he served as the minor league hitting coordinator for the Expos from 1995-1997...Worked in the Chicago White Sox organization from 1988-1994… Was the hitting coach for South Bend (A) of the Midwest League in 1994, for Sarasota (A) of the Florida State League in 1993, for Birmingham (AA) of the Southern League from 1990-1992, for Sarasota again in 1989…Was a roving hitting instructor in 1988...From 1983-1988, he was an assistant baseball coach with Old Dominion (VA) University.


In 1983 he received a B.A. degree in Physical Education from the University of Arizona and an M.A. in Sports Management from Old Dominion in 1987...Was a member of the 1980 College World Series champions at Arizona...Nicknamed "Six" because of his uniform number.
